Dear Diary,
We start our first quest in a while. Zevron tells us that we are to go an investigate an anomaly occurrence in a mining town called Laudstone, possibly linked to an elvish worker rebellion lead by a man called Gryphon. Zev's kinda stingy though - he's only arranged for us to take a train, not an airship.
We move towards the train as an intimidating group. A crazy doctor, a strange warden of nature, a gunslinger, a bard, a ex-military detective, and a gnome with a robot. Our friend the Templar is absent on another mission - not quite sure where Zevron sent him off to.
I suppose our mercenary group is a little strange. But I guess that's what happens when you fall into this kind of lifestyle - you're not exactly normal yourself. But I guess I can't talk. I don't think I even know what normal means.
When we get to the train, a GuardBot asks us to put our weapons in the holder - luckily he didn't notice my augmented limbs, or I'd have to walk around without a body! But actually, IO (the gnome diary) quickly rewired the robot so he wouldn't even notice we were there!
When we got onto the train, some of the guys played dice games, but I was told that gambling wasn't very good. It's important to save money for important things, like building up my weapon stash.
However, we soon heard trouble. Some mean elves were threatening this poor man! Markeloff (the warden) stepped out and told them to stop. He didn't like that idea much, so we got into a fight with him and his friends. It wasn't an easy fight diary. I kept missing my hits - they kept dodging my wrench. But Lan (the detective) told me to aim for their nuts, and I hit them well then!
We defeated the first group of elf bandits, but not before they managed to blow a carriage up with dynamite! We were able to block some of the explosion, but not before they ended up killing one of the passengers in the room. Markeloff left a bag of money for the rest of his family as we chased the rest of them down the hall. We ran past a group of beat up GuardBots (I patted them on the head as we ran past) and saw that some of the group had escaped on to the top of the train!
I chased them onto the roof with Regis (the gunslinger) and IO and his robot, and we managed to beat them. After climbing back down, we saw that the rest of the group had managed to defeat the other half of the elves, and the leader had surrendered to us!
I asked him why he was doing this, and we found it was Gryphon, the leader of the rebels. He told us he had hooked the train to explode once it hit the station, and advised us to get off and leave, since he had no real beef with us.
But that wasn't gonna work with us diary - we had come to this town on a mission, and we had to finish it, or else Zev was gonna get mad. IO and I identified the bomb in the engine room and helped everyone diffuse it, saving everyone on the train! It was a pretty scary moment though - we had only seconds to spare, and it was a pretty complicated bomb.
Once we got to the station, we all took a breather - we had just diffused a tense situation after all!
